The Church is infinitely more than buildings and meetings. It is what the early apostolic writers called the “ekklesia” or the “called out” ones. This community is called out of sinful independence and orphanhood into loving interdependence and sonship.
The Church is Christ’s body, the very organism through which He continues to manifest Himself to the world. Christ’s body is diverse having many members all being uniquely crafted to work in concert with each other to achieve God’s divine purpose.
Beyond serving this divine function, the body of Christ enjoys very special relationship with the Person of Christ. She is His bride, the one He loves and cherishes. Because she is intoxicated with His love, she too can love and cherish Him.
Grand River Church is one local expression of the body and bride of Christ. We exist because He exists in us. He lives His life through us. When you meet us, you meet Him.
Members of Grand River Church relate and function in many different ways, too many to enumerate in this space. But one of the highlights of our communal life is our Sunday gathering. Here we unite as one corporate man to experience and enjoy our Lover.
Our worship is extravagantly Christ-centered. He and He alone is worthy of our adoration. We gather to glorify God not to minister to the spiritual needs of man. But as we commune with Him, we experience His divine touch and enjoy His encouragement, comfort and healing power.
A highlight of our weekly gathering is celebrating “communion.” Here we eat and drink with our Lover in a most mystical way and revel in what He did for us at the Cross. Let us never forget: there He set us free from the power of sin and death. There He made us alive to God our Father.
It is always our delight to celebrate His glorious salvation. We find ourselves joining with the heavenly hosts and declaring with great joy: “Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!”
We invite you to join with our community in celebrating Life. His name is Jesus Christ!
